Entry # 6

I am still getting the hang of this blog stuff.  I would like to be able to use this medium to have a positive effect on those that I have a public relationship with.  Social  media has done that for many years, with both positive and negative results.   The recent contentious elections have shown a divisiveness in this country that has made the social media into a color war  of sorts.  On some level that is not bad, but given the results of the Trump/Clinton elections, there have been some very emotional outbursts.

Given the multiple marginalized groups that I find myself a part of, I think that both the social media, and the blogging enterprise can be used for good.  I am an overweight, Jewish woman, who struggles with borderline personality disorder amongst other things.  This combo leaves me  open to a lot of discrimination from a whole series of corners.

I have not posted in awhile, but I am glad to be re-affiliated with this site.  I am doing OK, still reading and writing my poetry, and studying it.  I am continuing to pursue a career as a peer specialist, studying via the online program sponsored by NYAPRS, and am enjoying it immensely.  I hope to be able to have a career in this some day.  I have made a lot of friends, and have a great apartment.  I am enjoying my work at Fountain House as one of the editors of the newspaper, along with the many other projects.

I have been working on my poetry - having been published in 2 books that are available on lulu.com.  On Viewless Wings III and On Viewless Wings IV.  I have also had 6 poems published in 2 private literary magazines.  I am continuing to take poetry classes having taken them for the past few years.

I have gotten really into google and all that it has - the gmail - the reader - and now the blog - with all of this - I can really get a chance to read a lot which is something I really like to do - there are ways that you learn about a lot of things that you might not otherwise learn = and I appreciate that - it is like reading 50 newspapers at once.

It is May 19, 2011 - and I am in a better space than I was in a few months ago - I made it passed my 50th birthday - and well, I feel like I am at a new place in my life. Some might have called it a mid-life crisis - but I am calling it a new beginning. Last winter, 3 of my pieces were published in a book entitled 'On Viewless Wings' - this summer, another piece will be published. I am actively looking for another job, and I feel confident about that - also, I have been asked to help with the starting up of a business which would help people research theses and medical research, etc. The gentleman that is in charge of this

I do not know what I am supposed to post - I have never had a blog per se - all I know is that I love poetry and am reading and writing it hoping that one day I will be noticed and published. I am taking classes in New York both on line and in person, where I am learning new techniques to hone my craft.
